Upbit Temporarily Suspends HBAR Deposits and Withdrawals for Hedera Wallet Maintenance

Upbit has temporarily blocked HBAR deposits and withdrawals. The South Korean exchange cited ongoing maintenance on the Hedera wallet system. The halt is in effect now, and Upbit has not said when it will end.

What has been suspended

All HBAR deposits and withdrawals are paused. The exchange says the action is needed to keep the Hedera wallet stable and secure. Trading is still open. You can buy and sell HBAR against the Korean won or other pairs. But any pending deposits or withdrawals could take longer than usual until the wallet work is done.

Upbit has paused asset transfers before. Many major exchanges do similar things during wallet upgrades or network maintenance. It is a way to protect user funds and avoid errors while the backend is being worked on.

What this means for HBAR traders

The main issue is that HBAR is stuck on the exchange for now. You can still trade it, but you cannot move it out or bring new coins in. That creates problems for arbitrage, where traders try to profit from price gaps between platforms. It also makes liquidity management harder if you need to shift funds quickly.

There could be short-term price movement. Past maintenance notices have sometimes caused minor volatility, but not always. The market reaction depends on how long the suspension lasts and whether any other exchanges follow the same path.

Hedera itself has not released a separate statement about the maintenance. That is not unusual, because exchange wallet updates often happen quietly in coordination with network changes.

What you should do while HBAR transfers are paused

Do not initiate HBAR transfers to or from Upbit for now. If you try to move funds while maintenance is happening, there is a risk they could get stuck or lost. If you already have a pending transaction, the best move is to wait and check Upbit’s announcements.

Upbit said it will notify users once the wallet system is working again. No clear timeline exists, so checking official updates is the only reliable way to know when deposits and withdrawals will reopen. Until then, trading remains available, but moving HBAR in or out is off the table.
