The XRP Ledger is shifting its image beyond just a payments network. It’s now positioning itself as a serious platform for institutional tokenization of real-world assets. And while many blockchains are still talking about future upgrades, XRPL already has the infrastructure in place.
According to Trensik, a platform focused on verified RWAs on XRPL, “Tokenization needs rails, not promises.” That quote hits hard because it reflects what institutions actually want: networks that are operational, compliant, and able to settle high-value assets fast.
Five Building Blocks for Institutions
Trensik argues XRPL already delivers the essentials. These include native on-chain asset issuance, a built-in decentralized exchange (DEX), compliance features, three-to-five-second settlement times, and RLUSD — Ripple’s regulated U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin. With these tools, institutions can issue, trade, and settle tokenized assets like U.S. Treasuries, real estate, private credit, and corporate bonds, all on-chain without needing external protocols.
Transactions settle in seconds using XRP or RLUSD. That cuts settlement delays, lowers counterparty risk, and improves capital efficiency. It also enables 24/7 global markets, which is a big deal for traditional finance.
Adoption is already picking up. Tokenized U.S. Treasuries on XRPL grew from about $50 million to over $418 million in the past year — an eightfold increase. That kind of growth signals that institutional confidence in the network is rising, even if it’s still early.
Stellar Wallet Integration Brings Users
XRPL is also expanding its reach through ecosystem partnerships. In a move with XRPL Commons, LOBSTR Wallet — one of Stellar’s most popular wallets with more than 1.5 million users — has added XRPL support. Available on iOS and Android, the first phase lets users hold and transfer XRP and XRPL-issued tokens, manage multiple XRPL wallets, see full transaction histories, perform cross-chain swaps between Stellar and XRPL, and buy or sell RLUSD through integrated fiat ramps.
This integration makes XRPL more accessible and strengthens interoperability between the XRP Ledger and Stellar ecosystems. It’s a practical step, not just a theoretical one.
AI Agents as a Growth Catalyst
RippleX’s Head of Engineering recently predicted that autonomous AI agent transactions on XRPL could jump from around 1 million today to anywhere between 10 million and 100 million in the next few years. As AI agents start handling payments, buying digital services, and interacting with tokenized assets without human help, they’ll need a blockchain that offers fast, cheap, reliable settlement. XRPL’s combination of near-instant finality, native tokenization, integrated liquidity, and a regulated stablecoin seems well-suited for that role.
These developments reinforce XRPL’s growing role as institutional financial infrastructure. With production-ready tokenization tools, rising RWA adoption, wider wallet distribution, and potential AI-driven use cases, the XRP Ledger is positioning itself as one of the foundations for the next wave of digital finance. Whether or not the trillion-dollar tokenization boom arrives exactly as predicted, the network is clearly preparing for it.
